Abstract
Kistka et al concluded that racial disparities in preterm birth observed in their study must be caused by an underlying genetic factor because of the observed regularity in timing of repeat preterm births and their control for maternal socioeconomic and medical characteristics. Because of flaws in their analysis, this conclusion is insufficiently supported.
