AbstractWhether Japanese workers are more committed to their employing organizations than are U.S. workers has been the subject of considerable comparative research and speculation. Besser reviews our research (Cole 1979; Lincoln and Kalleberg 1985, 1990) on this topic and reaches two major conclusions.
