Abstract

These pages describe recent trends and differentials in US fertility. As Ryder (1980: 15) noted, such 'pedestrian' work allows us to pose much more precise and appropriate analytic and substantive questions. This article identifies prominent features of contemporary US fertility, frames some important research questions, and, when possible, suggests answers.
