Peter A. Coclanis, CPC Fellow and Albert R. Newsome Professor of History, describes the demographic trends of Russia and why the country has troublesome years ahead.

An excerpt from the essay:
"Russia, simply put, is facing a demographic crisis unprecedented in world history. As a result, the country has become something of a poster child for what can go wrong, demographically speaking, in an ostensibly advanced nation-state. Through a complex combination of factors, it has somehow managed to reverse the so-called demographic transition, one of the defining features of developed societies.
