Clark Gray is a population and human-environment geographer in the Department of Geography. His research uses demographic methods to investigate the social causes and consequences of environmental change in the developing world, with a focus on migration and land use. Current and past projects have investigated environmental influences on human migration in Ecuador, Indonesia, and East Africa with the goal of quantifying the phenomenon of "environmental refugees". A second focus of his research is on the social drivers of tropical land use change, and includes projects in the Ecuadorian Andes and the Amazon basin.
