Faculty Fellow Batsis participates in National Council on Aging Roundtable on Obesity and Equitable Aging

Faculty Fellow Dr. John Batsis participated in a National Council on Aging Roundtable on Obesity and Equitable Aging on November 15, 2023.

The goals of the roundtable were to:

— to shift the mindset on obesity so it is addressed as a serious chronic disease

— to discuss the Patient Bill of Rights

— to discuss the Treat, Reduce Obesity Act

— to support a call to action, and identify a path forward

Dr. Batsis examined some of the healthcare realities from the perspective of obesity and geriatric medicine and its relationship to nutrition. He discussed healthcare from a clinical standpoint and the emerging issues necessary for prescribing treatment, accessing treatment, and trustworthy  information.
