Recent studies have indicated the usefulness of salivary assays for monitoring changes in testosterone associated with puberty among adolescent boys. However, these studies have been cross-sectional or mixed-longitudinal in design, failing to take advantage of the potential for truely longitudinal design afforded by the noninvasive collection of saliva. In addition, changes in salivary and serum testosterone during puberty have not been explicitly compared.URL
