Francis E. Johnston, succumbed to Alzheimer's Disease and died in his home on August 20, 2020. Frank, as he was known to colleagues, students and friends, was a world authority on human physical growth and development (Figure 1). In 2000, he retired as professor emeritus of Biological Anthropology after a long career at the University of Pennsylvania. He chaired the Department of Anthropology from 1982 to 1994. During his 40+‐year career in anthropology, he supervised some 30 doctoral students. Many of these went on to careers in academic anthropology, but more than half did not and pursued careers in other academic departments, particularly nutrition, or in medical research in hospitals, public health, and government agencies.URL
