Abstract

We read with interest the recent article by Brancati and colleagues that examined differences in diabetes risk in blacks and whites (1). Ethnic differences in chronic disease rates are a pressing medical and social concern. Interrelations between ethnic group status, socioeconomic status (SES), and disease are still poorly understood, and this article represents a useful contribution to this important topic.
