Dr. Tumlinson's Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Tumlinson has a long history at the Carolina Population Center, working as both a pre- and post-doctoral trainee before being nominated as a Faculty Fellow. Tumlinson holds a PhD in Epidemiology from UNC and will be an Assistant Professor in the Department of Maternal and Child Health beginning September 1, 2017.

Following her PhD from UNC, Tumlinson conducted research as a postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University and received a Career Development Award from NIH. Dr. Tumlinson’s NIH award funds a portfolio of research investigating facility-level barriers to family planning in low-income countries. Her work on international family planning has been published in top journals, including Studies in Family Planning, and in 2015 she received the Berton H. Kaplan Award for best student publication from UNC’s Epidemiology Department. Dr. Tumlinson’s research is deeply informed by her prior experience managing a teen pregnancy prevention program at Planned Parenthood of North Central Florida and by her experiences living and working in a number of low and middle income countries.
