CPC Fellow Barry Popkin has been named a W.R. Kenan Jr. Distinguished Professor of nutrition. This Professorship is “an endowed faculty position awarded to outstanding scholars and teachers.” Popkin’s research and publications are widely known and have had a global influence on nutrition knowledge. Jon Hussey, CPC Fellow and Research Assistant Professor of Maternal and Child Health, has been awarded the McGavran Award for Excellence in Teaching. This award from UNC’s Gillings School of Global Public Health recognizes career-long excellence in teaching. One nominator described Hussey as “the perfect model for a teacher, as he is incredibly patient, supportive and giving.” The full announcement can be read here.
