Kyle Crowder is the Howard W. Odum Distinguished Professor of Sociology. His research focuses broadly on the causes and consequences of residential stratification. Much of his recent work has dealt with questions related to racial and ethnic differences in residential mobility outcomes and neighborhood attainment, as well as the effects of community context on individual behavior. Currently he is studying the effects of sociodemographic conditions in the immediate neighborhood of residence and surrounding areas on family migration decisions and adolescent development, and the role of broader structural and ecological conditions in moderating these effects. His current research also includes a study of the micro-level processes that shape broader racial differences in exposure to industrial pollution and other environmental hazards. |
