Amanda Thompson is a biological anthropologist specializing in human growth and nutrition. Her research combines biocultural and public health approaches to examine how the physiology of human growth and development is shaped by environmental factors, maternal-infant interaction and feeding practices in early life and the lasting impacts of this early environment on health and reproductive well-being throughout the lifespan. She is involved in collaborative research on the development of obesity in African-American infants and is currently working to develop a project exploring environmental determinants of inflammation in Chinese children and adolescents.
