Margarita Mooney is a sociologist interested in immigrant adaptation, religion and aging. In previous work, she used ethnographic methods to study how religion influences the adaptation of Haitian migrants in Miami, Montreal and Paris. She has also analyzed survey data to examine the academic achievement and social integration of Latino college students. Her current work examines whether religion moderates the impact of international migration on the health and well-being of older Mexicans living on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. She is also the Co-Lead Investigator of the Cumberland County site of the National Children's Study.
